On March 14, 2025, the College of Life Sciences at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), arranged by the Office of Global Affairs of KMU, welcomed an important visitor, Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), India. The visit aimed to promote academic cooperation between the two universities in the fields of chemistry and life sciences and to reach a consensus on dual doctoral degree cooperation.
Kaohsiung Medical University signed a sister school agreement with SRMIST six years ago. With the support of this agreement, over the past six years (2019–2024), the College of Life Sciences at Kaohsiung Medical University has hosted 10 exchange students from SRMIST through the TEEP program. Additionally, three PhD students have graduated from SRMIST, and one postdoctoral researcher has also come from SRMIST. These exchange activities have not only deepened the academic ties between the two universities but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.
Based on the close exchanges between the sister schools, in February 2025, Kaohsiung Medical University and SRMIST renewed the sister school cooperation agreement for the next five years in Chennai. To this end, SRMIST returned to Kaohsiung Medical University in March this year, laying the foundation for further cooperation between the two sides in the future.
