The College of Life Sciences at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) is delighted to share exciting news! Prof. Kumar from the Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry and Prof. Pei-Fen Liu from the Department of Biomedical and Environmental Biology have been honored with the “2025 KMU–NSYSU Outstanding Collaborative Research Paper Award” in recognition of their outstanding research achievements and long-standing inter-institutional collaboration.

The award ceremony was warmly held on April 8 at Hwa-Li Hall, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), where faculty members and students from both universities gathered to celebrate this proud and meaningful occasion.

The “KMU–NSYSU Outstanding Collaborative Research Paper Award” aims to promote academic exchange and collaboration between KMU and NSYSU. Through interdisciplinary partnerships, resource sharing, and complementary expertise, the award highlights impactful research that advances the fields of biomedical science and related disciplines.

Both awardees have demonstrated remarkable accomplishments in their respective research areas.

Prof. Kumar has long been dedicated to research in chemical synthesis and materials science, with his work showing strong innovative potential in enhancing drug delivery systems and sensing technologies.

Prof. Pei-Fen Liu focuses on cancer biology and molecular mechanisms, and through cross-institutional collaboration, has made significant progress in tumor microenvironment studies and targeted therapies, earning recognition from the international academic community.

The College of Life Sciences noted that this recognition not only reflects the individual achievements of the two professors, but also highlights the college’s continued commitment to advancing research excellence and global engagement. Despite their busy teaching responsibilities, both professors actively mentor students and foster a vibrant research environment, serving as inspiring role models for future scientists.

Looking ahead, the College will continue to strengthen interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations, encouraging the development of more high-impact research and further advancing toward the global academic stage.
